“It’s good to meet you,” says new HomeGrid Forum President, Donna Yasay

As new HomeGrid Forum President, I’d like to take this opportunity to say how excited I am to take on this position, tell you a little about myself, and provide a few thoughts about where I want to take HomeGrid Forum over the next year.

Donna Yasay HeadshotI come to HomeGrid Forum from a background in engineering and business development in both operator and vendor environments, including AT&T, D-Link, Asoka, Netopia,  Ikanos Communications – and now as Business Development Director at Marvell Semiconductor.

My previous experience in home networking, in both LAN and WAN environments, has given me a particular passion for meeting the needs of the consumer community, providing the right technology to achieve better quality of experience. I believe this is an opportune moment for me to take the helm at HomeGrid as the first exciting deployments of G.hn are now rolling out, especially the news of China Telecom and Skyworth’s initiative to offer smart TVs with G.hn to China Telecom's more than 25 million IPTV subscribers. I hope that my consumer focus and background will stand us all in good stead.

As I have begun getting to know HomeGrid I have seen the enormous potential and I have a clear vision of where we can take the organization over the next year and beyond.

I want to see G.hn become the ubiquitous in-home networking standard across the globe and also see more recognition of its potential as a wireless enabler for all consumers in both carrier and retail. In my view G.hn has the potential to become the ‘4K Enabler’ throughout the home. It can also become the in-home technology leader for mixed managed services combining voice, video and data with carrier class quality of experience. These may be new and unfamiliar ways of describing G.hn, but I hope that a fresh approach will bring new impetus to the enormous efforts members have been making. This year I expect to see enormous strides in our powerline deployments and further advances in the other wired mediums that G.hn handles so well: coax, CAT5, phoneline and plastic optical fiber (POF).

G.hn is such a powerful and promising technology, and I am delighted and excited to be taking on this role at such a key moment.
