HomeGrid Forum has welcomed devolo, a leading provider of powerline networking solutions in Europe, as its latest member. Based in Germany, devolo is a pioneer in home networking and it will bring valuable experience to the already strong body of HomeGrid Forum members. devolo has been developing powerline products for both consumers and professional users for the last 16 years and has won numerous top-product reviews and industry awards. There are more than 36 million dLAN® adapters in use internationally.
devolo recently partnered with HomeGrid Forum Board Member MaxLinear for an innovative new line of G.hn powerline products for carriers. They enable a double-digit increase in data rates compared to current technologies and are optimized for very low latency and packet loss to serve demanding applications such as IPTV and online video gaming.
“devolo was the market leader in HomePlug retail devices and we are now delighted to welcome them into the world of G.hn at the HomeGrid Forum,” said Dr. Len Dauphinee, HomeGrid Forum President. “The devolo team are true innovators focusing on support for high-performance applications including whole-home Wi-Fi and IPTV. Our growing membership highlights how G.hn is a highly reliable in-home technology capable of meeting today’s requirements and devolo will help guide the migration to G.hn deployments for operators.”
The new solutions use TR-069 – an internationally recognized management standard from the Broadband Forum – which is critical in eliminating truck-rolls by allowing remote management and field-upgradability of the G.hn powerline adapters.
“Joining the HomeGrid Forum will enable us to further accelerate our work after selecting G.hn as our technology of choice,” said Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo. “Our ambitions are to continue supporting our European partners in providing high-performance powerline home networking products, even in the most challenging environments. HomeGrid Forum is a great organization to help us move forward in the industry and we are proud to have achieved HomeGrid Forum certification with devolo’s first G.hn powerline devices.”
